Toyota has been making hybrids for almost 30 years, and in the process has made five generations of hybrid drive trains. Each generation having its own set of improvements over the last generation. While Hybrids are also better for the environment than traditional ICE1. The engine is juristically more efficient than an ICE, the 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid would get about 20 more MPG than its regular ICE counterpart, trims may vary. Learning about how the hybrid uses energy more efficiently, you tend to realize how much a standard Internal Combustion is inefficient. Running at a red light, still burning energy even when going down a hill, constant acceleration and deceleration in city driving. It doesn’t sound like much but each little bit adds up, making the combined MPG so much greater. Hybrids use what’s called regenerative braking where it takes the kinetic energy from going down a hill and recharges the battery, instead of using the physical brakes. This is saving gas/energy as well as using less wear on the physical traction brakes. All the different advancements that hybrids have made and the perks of hybrids makes it feel like to me a no-brainer to make the switch. The biggest people that wouldn’t benefit from a hybrid are people who like working on their own vehicles and engines, which is not a lot of Americans.
