While some websites and Operating Systems (OS) will take a chance to surprise you, I feel like modern high industry websites and operating systems are falling into the same practices and are losing their “difference” which is both a good and bad thing. On one hand, it makes things universal, but on the other hand it makes everything the same and plain. The biggest thing I’ve noticed that both Apple and Windows 11 boast about is rounded corners. I haven’t used chrome recently, but I am actively using Edge, and everything is rounded. The “viewer”, the address bar, the tabs, literally everything. Apple is the same, they’re whole marketing scheme has been rounded everything for years now. If you’re on Windows 11 right now, hover over an item on your taskbar and you see what I mean. Personally, I like the universal look and rounded corners, but I imagine some don’t and get annoyed at the receptiveness. The fun part? Websites do the same a fair amount of time. First and foremost, a lot of websites are adapted to be viewed on mobile, but it seems like some are designed only for mobile and the mobile devices OS. A lot of websites replicate the rounded corners, widget look. Which has led to a lot of webapps, making a lot not run on-device, which is more secure. For old phones, it’s perfect, but for new devices it’s like cloud gaming on a brand-new Gaming Computer! Even now websites even if they are just websites and not webapps, mimic what is now both Desktop/Laptop and mobile device feel, which makes it universal, but introduces repetitiveness and a lot left to be desired for diversity.
